A factory manager was burnt to death after his car caught fire following an accident with a lorry near here last night.

Yong Peng Foo, 53, died after he was trapped in his Honda City after slamming into the lorry while driving along Lorong Perindustrian 2 in the Perai Industrial Area, said a Perai Fire and Rescue Station official.

Station chief Deputy Superintendent A’azelan Hassan said the station was notified of the accident at 11.35pm.

“The victim’s car was caught in the rear of the lorry and almost 70% of the front part of the vehicle was burnt. The victim was unable to get out of the car as the fire spread quickly,” he said here today.

A’azelan said firefighters took almost 30 minutes to put out the fire.

Yong’s body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem, he added.
