
According to the THE website, Universiti Putra Malaysia came in at the 89th place, a climb of 14 places from its previous ranking.
The other two Malaysian universities that made it to the top 100 ranking were Universiti Teknologi Petronas (91) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (100).
Meanwhile, making it to the top 300, were Universiti Sains Malaysia at 114th place and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia at 136th place.
Universiti Utara Malaysia made it within the 201-250 band and Universiti Teknologi Mara made it to the 251-300 band.
Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh, on Twitter, congratulated the universities saying: “Congrats to our universities for achieving this. Keep it up, the hard work doesn’t end here – go for Top 100 and beyond. #SoaringUpwards.”
Some 50 countries were listed in the BRICS 2017 ranking, including China, Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa.
