Dr M-Kit Siang friendship gives Shahrizat the jitters

Umno Wanita Chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is embarrassed that Dr Mahathir who once led the ruling party can now turn his back and make nice with the enemy just to further his own personal agenda.

Shahrizat-Jalil
KUALA LUMPUR: Shock, despair and anger – Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has felt them all with the budding relationship between Umno’s former president Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP’s Lim Kit Siang.

“Our former leader is now working with the opposition. I have mixed feelings over this,” said the Umno Wanita chief.

She was speaking to delegates present at the wing’s general assembly held in the Putra World Trade Center here, today.

Shahrizat also claimed to have been embarrassed by the fact that the man who once led the ruling party can now turn his back and make nice with the party’s enemies, just to further his own personal agenda.

“20 years we looked up to him, we loved him. It’s so sad how he used to say so many (bad) things about Lim and the DAP…what has happened?

“It must be because of his own agenda. Maybe it’s about his son (Mukhriz), maybe it’s something else, but I can’t accept that.

“You can’t use your personal agenda as the reason to bring down the country.”

Mahathir had earlier this year quit Umno, saying that it has become a party for Umno president and Prime Minister Najib Razak instead of one that stands for race, religion and country.

He has since formed his own political party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, that is working alongside other opposition parties to ensure Barisan Nasional is defeated in the next general election.

Shahrizat, however, does not see Mahathir or his party as a threat to Umno, saying that it’s just a test from God.

“Only the special ones, and those with good intentions, are tested by Allah.

“So why is Umno being tested? It’s because we are fighting for our religion, our race, and our country.”

She also dismissed concerns of foreign interference after a leaked document showed that US billionaire George Soros had allegedly funded several local organisations for what Umno leaders claimed to be an attempt to topple the government.

“Ladies, will you allow Soros to come to Malaysia? The currency crook, the father of all crooks?

“Don’t worry, as long as the women are with Najib, I’m sure Soros or whoever, will not be able to interfere with our goals.”
