PETALING JAYA:
The rivalry between two Malaysian teams of illusionists has seen the Guinness World Records (GWR) having to change their recognition for the category “Most costume change illusions in one minute” three times in just as many months.

This was reported in a GWR update on its website yesterday.

The first Malaysian pair, Loo Min Chek and Mark Yong, who are part of the Vivas Magic troupe, achieved their record of 16 costume changes in 60 seconds back in September.

Just weeks later, however, another Malaysian magic duo Avery Chin and Sylvia Lim beat the record with an amazing 18 costume swaps in one minute.

Still, this new record was not to last long either, with the first duo of Loo and Yong taking back their crown with a mind-boggling new total of 20 costume change illusions.

According to GWR, the new record was achieved at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of more than 1,000 people.

GWR’s rules for this category state that after every “reveal” a completely different costume must be worn, with no evidence of the previous outfit.

The video clip of the previous record by Chin and Lim, which was achieved in Wuhan, Hubei, in China, has even been one of the most widely viewed videos on Facebook garnering more than 20 million views.
