Mayor Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said DBKL was in the midst of collecting evidence of the mess left in the wake of the two rallies on Nov 19.
“We are assessing the cleanup costs and the damage to public property caused by Bersih 5 participants and Red Shirts.
“We are also waiting for Alam Flora’s assessment of how many trips it had to make to pick up the garbage collected by the Bersih group,” he told FMT.
Amin was commenting on the mess left by rally goers in parts of the city.
He said DBKL expected to complete its investigations by the end of the week.
“Once all the information is gathered, we will be issuing bills to the organisers.
“If they fail to settle their bills, we will proceed according to the law,” he told FMT.
FMT had reported that the Red Shirts counter-rally had left Padang Merbok strewn with rubbish.
DBKL had billed Bersih RM65,000 for cleaning services after a two-day Bersih 4 rally held in August last year. The Red Shirts were billed RM38,000.
