PETALING JAYA:
PKR Wanita Chief Zuraida Kamaruddin compared Red Shirts leader Jamal Yunos to a popular fairy tale in explaining the bleeding nose that the latter suffered during a scuffle with police yesterday.

“If anyone remembers the story of Pinocchio, then he will know why Jamal’s nose bled.

“Jamal’s nose was growing longer and longer (from telling lies as in the story of Pinocchio), so he must have bumped into something hard and then started bleeding,” Zuraida said in a statement released this morning.

Calling Jamal a “big bully and liar”, Zuraida also challenged him to try and prove it was her supporters from PKR Wanita who had punched him and cause his nose to bleed.

“Who would actually believe that the Red Shirts gang leader, Mr Jamal Gorilla, was bashed by women? Even if he was, I would say, ‘Padan muka!’

“As a man, he should just stop bullying others and then blame it on women. How much more ridiculous can Jamal get?” the Ampang MP said.

Referring to his previous verbal attacks and threats against Bersih 2.0 Chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah and former Bersih chief Ambiga Sreenevasan, Zuraida said: “Now he is bullying PKR Wanita. Why is he picking on women? Come join us in Wanita-lah!”

Yesterday afternoon, Red Shirts supporters led by Jamal showed up in Ampang where Zuraida and her PKR Wanita members had been publicising the Bersih 5 rally planned for Nov 19, near the Ampang Point mall.

When the PKR women headed into the mall, Jamal and his Red Shirts supporters went after them, following them through the main concourse of the mall, shouting and remonstrating against the women.

Police stepped in to block their path and following an altercation, as seen on a video shown on the Malaysiakini news portal, Jamal was bleeding and accused the police of punching him, shouting repeatedly, “Polis tumbuk saya!”

However, he later filed a police report stating that there was a clash between 150 of his men, and a group in Bersih t-shirts. He claimed that those in yellow were acting violent and had disturbed public peace.

He later told FMT that “out of nowhere a man in a yellow t-shirt punched me. I got a bloody nose because of that.”

Based on his initial accusation and the eventual police report he had made at the Ampang police station, Zuraida accused Jamal of further fabrication.

“Lodging a false report is a criminal offence and I am sure the police will charge Jamal for doing so.

“The evidence is there for all to see – he lodged a false report and was even captured on video for telling lies,” Zuraida said, adding that based on all the evidence available, she will take legal action against Jamal, who is the Umno Sungai Besar division chief.

She also praised the Ampang police, OCPD Hamzah Alias and his team for being “very efficient in their work”, thanking them for carrying out their duties in a professional manner.
