Lawyer claims trial to outraging modesty charges

He is charged with touching the buttocks of a student and trying to touch the breasts of another at a condo in Bandar Sg Long, Kajang.

KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court in Kajang today to a charge of outraging the modesty of a university student.

Michael Anthony, 33, was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code with touching the buttocks of Chua Year Jing (Cristal), 22.

He also claimed trial to another charge of allegedly attempting to outrage the modesty of another university student at the same place and time. He is accused of trying to touch the breasts of 20-year-old (Tammy) Ong Hui Yee.

Both offences were alleged to have happened at Cypress Condo, Bandar Sg Long, on Nov 1.

Magistrate Fadzilatul Isma granted RM4,000 bail on the first charge and RM3,800 bail for the second.

The magistrate fixed Dec 9 for next mention of the case.

The court also ordered both victims not to continue publishing their alleged experience on social media.

Chua and Ong, both students at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar), had gone live on Facebook, with a video, to warn women to be vigilant against a man groping women.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Natasha Chin prosecuted.

Jerald Gomez appeared for the accused lawyer.
