MACC officer charged with criminal intimidation

He was charged with wielding a machete and threatening his sister-in-law’s husband.

A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with threatening his sister-in-law’s husband two months ago.

Muhammad Nazrin Abdullah pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before magistrate Maslinda Selamat.

Muhammad Nazrin, 37, was charged with committing criminal intimidation by wielding a machete at Mohammad Faris Ngatiman at a house in Kampung Parit Jarum Tengah, Bukit Gambir, at 7.10am on Sept 21.

The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years with fine, or both, if found guilty.

Maslinda set bail at RM8,000 in two local sureties and ordered Muhammad Nazrin’s passport to be impounded.

He was also ordered to report himself to the Segamat district police station once in two weeks and to not intimidate the victim and his children.
