KUALA LUMPUR: Police opened fire when a mechanic driving his customer’s car tried to ram pursuing policemen after he tried to avoid a routine road block yesterday.
The police team had stopped the Toyota Alphard for inspection near Rumah Panjang Kawasan A in Jinjang Utara.
However, the driver accelerated and headed towards Jalan Jinjang Utara. There, he stopped the vehicle before reversing to hit the pursuing policemen.
The police fired three shots at the vehicle’s bumper before nabbing the 40-year-old man, said Sentul police chief R Munusamy.
A samurai sword, a parang, 10 Eramine 5 pills and a packet of syabu were found in the vehicle.
