KUANTAN: The Human Resources Ministry has published a guidebook for employers and job seekers which provides details of salaries of 160 skill-based jobs.
The book complements the implementation of a basic starting salary in the country.
Deputy Human Resources Minister Ismail Abd Muttalib said most of the 160 listings were technical jobs. He said vocational education would become the main means to increase the number of skilled workers under the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016-2020).
“The 160 jobs are popular careers which have been the interest of Malaysians,” he said.
The ministry has distributed 10,000 copies of the book, which will also be displayed at all Urban Transformation Centre branches as a reference for job seekers.
Ismail said the book would be updated every two years in line with the review of the Minimum Wages Order.
He hoped that employers would implement the recommended starting salaries for those holding skill certificates and diplomas.
Ismail was here for a job fair being held at the UTC and eight other UTCs across the country.
A job centre would be opened at all UTC branches next year.
