Magistrate Atiqah Abdul Karim imposed the fines on Lau Soon Aik, Lim Jiun Jian, Lim Kok Chye and Chuah Kai Xian after they pleaded guilty.
They were charged with committing mischief by splashing red paint at Merlyn Low’s house. It caused damage to a window and wall.
They were also charged with criminal intimidation after they threatened two security guards with parang and a hammer.
They committed the offence at Jalan Sepah Puteri, Seri Utama, Kota Damansara here on October 12.
Chuah and Low were also fined RM500 each on another charge, under Section 7(1) of the Rules of National Registration Act, for failing to produce their identity cards to police officer Kwek Kian Yap.
According to the facts of the case, Low was awakened by loud noises in front of her house.
Upon checking, she saw four men throwing bottles containing red paint at her house.
The four fled, after 10 minutes, in a Toyota Estima.
Low suspected it was the work of loan sharks to whom her ex-husband owes money.
She believes the neighbourhood security guards on duty were forced to open the boom gate so the suspects could enter.
Last month, a viral closed circuit television recording (CCTV) on Facebook showed four individuals, armed with parang and a hammer, in the Kota Damansara area.
They were believed to be loan sharks.
