SHAH ALAM: Umno Youth members gathered outside the Selangor state government’s administrative centre in Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (SSAAS) today to vent their frustration over the frequent water cuts in the state.

Led by Umno Youth exco member Armand Azha Abu Hanifah, the group of about 200 threw buckets and water bottles into the compound while trying to force their way through the front gate, shouting “We want water” and “Azmin is unfair”.

Armand told reporters they were tired of the frequent water cuts and blamed Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s administration for being “unfair”.

“We came here today not as Malays, Chinese or Indians, but as Selangor citizens. We want justice for Selangor, not party justice.

“Azmin is being unfair to the people of Selangor. We do not want just another official here, we want Azmin and PKR officials here.”

Armand said they could not shower and were tired of seeing the people of Selangor suffer.

The Semenyih River is the main waterway from the Semenyih dam to the treatment plant. The facility produces more than 630 million litres of water daily.

However, contamination from the Semenyih Hi-Tech Industrial Park caused the authorities to cut off supply while the problem was remedied.

This caused a water cut for four days prior to Deepavali which had put a damper on what was supposed to be a festive atmosphere.
