Speaking at a press conference today, Ema said that she chose PKR over other parties because she had made many “wrongdoings”.
“To me, it doesn’t matter if I join PKR, DAP or whichever opposition party. I chose PKR only because I have made many mistakes here, and I want to redeem myself,” said Ema.
PKR Wanita Chief Zuraida Kamaruddin described Ema’s membership as a positive step in helping PKR Wanita.
“Her expertise will be very helpful to us. Maybe her ways before was a little negative, but I’m confident that she can play a big role in increasing the dignity of women, increasing the awareness on women’s policies so on and so forth,” said Zuraida.
She added that Ema would be able to train the women of PKR Wanita with matters of social media, as she is good at it. “I hope this will be a new era for PKR Wanita in terms of social media in increasing the dignity of women.”
Ema has been in the spotlight because of her social media postings.
She has been questioned by the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission after posting photographs of the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, and the prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, at a Hari Raya function.
In June, she was involved in a spat with PKR’s Chegubard (Badrul Hisham Shaharin) about the purported purchase of a database containing details of thousands of Malaysians, which was said to have been used for the Citizens’ Declaration.
Freelance programmer Azharuddin Othman had claimed that Syarul Ema had offered RM5,000 for information from the database that was to be used for the Citizens’ Declaration.
Ema strongly denied soliciting the names for the declaration, which calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
