AirAsia reschedules flights due to Typhoon Haima

Low-cost carrier sends alert to passengers of flights on Southern China, HK, Macau and Taiwan routes, to and from various Malaysian cities, following typhoon warning.

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia flights to and from Southern China and Taiwan will be affected by Typhoon Haima today and tomorrow, the airline said in a statement released yesterday.

The Malaysian-based low-cost carrier added that several flights had already been cancelled and rescheduled.

The affected flights are those departing from Kota Kinabalu to Southern China (Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Guangzhou) and Taiwan (Taipei). Similarly, flights out of Southern China and Taiwan to KK will also be affected over the two days.

Meanwhile, AirAsia flights scheduled for today on the Kuala Lumpur-Kaohsiung/Shenzhen/Guangzhou and Johor Baru-Guangzhou routes will also be affected.

Tomorrow, the bad weather will affect flights on the Kuala Lumpur-Shantou/Changsha/Shenzhen/Guangzhou/Hong Kong/Macau, Johor Baru-Guangzhou and Langkawi-Guangzhou routes.

“All affected guests will be notified by AirAsia via email and SMS.

“AirAsia is closely monitoring the potential impact of this storm and will continue to update guests in a timely manner on any changes due to Typhoon Haima,” the airline said.

AirAsia also advised guests travelling on the affected routes to check their flight statuses via the airline’s website as well as social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
