PETALING JAYA:
Red Shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos has dismissed death threats made against Bersih 2.0 leader Maria Chin Abdullah and her family members as pure fabrication and mere theatrics.

“This is mere fabrication by them. Their struggle is based purely on lies and slander.

“So, it is not impossible that this was made up by them to court sympathy from their supporters,” Jamal told Malaysiakini.

“This is all fabrication and nonsensical lies.”

Jamal insisted that the Red Shirts had nothing to do with the death threat against Maria that was sent to her via a WhatsApp message.

He said the Red Shirts came about only as a means to counter the activities of the Yellow Shirts of Bersih.

Jamal said the death threats reported by Maria could be meant to drum up support and sympathy for the electoral watchdog as its roadshow had only drawn small groups of supporters.

“I have already said that this group has been infiltrated by IS (Islamic State) and Daesh. I have sent evidence and proof to the cops.”

News reports have emerged that Red Shirts supporters have been harassing Bersih supporters wherever the convoy went. The Bersih 5 rally however will go on as planned on Nov 19.
