PETALING JAYA:
It is safe to say that Lim Sau Hyun is Malaysia’s very own “Crocodile Dundee.”

After all, the 67-year-old former contractor turned crocodile hunter has caught 60 of the reptiles in the last five years, reported The Star today.

Lim was also the one, with the help of his friends, who recently caught a 4.5-metre long beast that killed 28-year-old Herry Long at the Kg Langkon River in Kota Marudu, Sabah.

Herry was taken while fishing about 1am last Thursday. His torn body was found floating not far from where he was last seen, later the same day.

Relating his experience, Lim said he and his friends went to the “crime scene” after being informed by villagers about the incident and proceeded to set up a base to monitor the reptile’s movements. They also laid a trap.

It took four days of waiting before the reptile showed up and bit into a homemade five-inch hook that was left dangling to entice it.

A three-hour struggle ensued before the men managed to pull the reptile to shore and subdue it by placing a piece of cloth over its eyes.

Next they fastened ropes around it’s body before transporting it to the Tuaran crocodile farm, where it was killed and later dissected.

Inside the crocodile’s stomach, the men found an arm and a leg, which was then buried together with Herry’s remains.

Lim’s foray into crocodile hunting began after he himself almost lost a good friend to a crocodile, a close encounter that prompted him to research tried and tested methods on how to catch the predator.

Ever since, he has been receiving calls from people who have heard of his “skills.”

Lim’s mission, as he put it, is to catch killer crocodiles and bring closure to the families of those who have become victims of the beasts.
