Persatuan Kebajikan Insan Mulia President Aminah Abdullah said the “special gifts”, in the form of a “penyapu lidi”(broom made of palm fronds) and a regular broom, for Lim Guan Eng was a sign for him to “clean himself up.”

Aminah, who is former Penang PKR Wanita chief, handed the memorandum, together with the gifts wrapped in mahjong paper, to an officer from the chief minister’s office.

“We are concerned about the Bersih rally and its related events being held in Penang. It is really not nice to see yellow here and there. It gives an impression of chaos.

“It interrupts businesses, especially smallholders who are already having a hard time making a living.

“So, we hereby urge the chief minister to not hold any Bersih events in Penang. We suggest that he cleans himself from corruption and other court charges first,” she told reporters at the lobby of Komtar here.

The group gathered about 11am and Aminah, with 30 others, voiced out their displeasure against Lim and Bersih using loudhailers. They dispersed 30 minutes later without incident.

Recently, a Bersih convoy passed Kedah and Penang, in a run-up to the mega gathering in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 19.

The five demands of Bersih 5 are clean elections, clean governance, strengthening of parliamentary democracy, right to dissent and empowering Sabah and Sarawak.
