Coming soon- Rooms for RM50 to RM80 in KL
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Ministry plans to build accommodation to be rented out specifically to low-income youths working in the service sectors in the national capital.

Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said this was aimed at helping bachelors rent rooms at a low rental of RM50 to RM80 a month.

“This is to help those who work in hotels, restaurants and the services industry in Kuala Lumpur to rent a room even if their salary is low.

“We are planning to build these homes with an area of 650 square feet per unit. And each unit will have five rooms, toilet and dining area.

“These homes will also include a parking area for motorcycles and will be built near LRT (Light Rail Train) stations,” he told a media conference after officiating at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Pantai Sentral Park Interchange here today.

Also present were Federal Territories Ministry Secretary-General Adnan Mohd Ikshan, Kuala Lumpur City Mayor Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz and IJM Corporation Berhad Chairman Abdul Halim Ali.

The RM52 million Pantai Sentral Park Interchange in Pantai Dalam, which is an alternative route, is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the national capital by up to 30 per cent.

Tengku Adnan said the 2.8km interchange was expected to be ready in February 2018 and would connect to the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Federal Highway, Damansara-Puchong Highway and Kerinchi Link (Sprint Highway).

The interchange has two exits, involving routes to Bangsar and Kuala Lumpur; Sunway, Subang and Kuala Lumpur. It will have three entrances from Bangsar and Kuala Lumpur; Sunway, Subang and Petaling Jaya.

The project would be developed by Amona Development Sdn Bhd and IJM Land Berhad, which also developed a housing project here.

Tengku Adnan also urged both the developers to provide 896 units of affordable homes at a price of RM245,000 and below a unit to enable people to own homes in the Pantai Sentral Park area.

“The existing units at 850 square feet a unit are inadequate to accommodate the high demand.

“If feasible, we want the developers to sell the units at the minimum possible level and to increase the number of units to help those needing homes,” he said.
