Speaking to reporters during a press conference, Teng said various steps had been taken to ensure the progress of the state’s aerospace industry, including the setting up of the Selangor Aerospace Council.
“The council comprises players in the aerospace industry and representatives from the ministries and federal agencies.
“This is to ensure that Malaysia will be one of the three main aerospace industry centres in the world.”
Teng, who heads the state investment, industry (small and medium enterprises), commerce and transportation committee, pointed out that the state dominated the aerospace industry in the country.
“It is only natural for Selangor to take the leap and initiative to ensure that Malaysia will achieve its target. And Selangor will be the leader in this industry within the country.”
Teng was at the launch of the seven-day countdown to the Selangor International Expo 2016 at the state secretariat building here.
The international expo was part of Invest Selangor’s efforts to position the state as the main business and trading hub in the region, he said.
Invest Selangor is the investment arm of the Selangor State Government and is chaired by Menteri Besar Azmin Ali.
Meanwhile, Teng said the Selangor International Expo 2016 was set to be the meeting point for key business players and decision makers in the region.
“It’s a good platform for both domestic and foreign companies to establish their businesses and trade relations, as well as to expand and widen the scope of their business to the international markets.
“The fact that we are holding this international expo for the second year running, reflects our serious undertaking to investors, both foreign and local, to provide additional opportunities to drive their businesses further.”
