Tengku Amir Shah proclaimed Selangor crown prince

After taking his oath at Istana Alam Shah, the prince must leave the state for seven days.

KLANG: The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, only son of the Sultan of Selangor, was officially proclaimed crown prince in a ceremony at Istana Alam Shah today.

Tengku Amir Shah took his oath of office before his father, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

By tradition, he must remain out of the state for seven days and return next Saturday to participate in the ‘menjunjung duli’ ceremony.

Tengku Amir Shah was born in San Francisco on Dec 12, 1990 to Sultan Sharafuddin and his American wife, Che Puan Nur Lisa. The royal couple were divorced in 1997.
