In a statement, the exchange said following the declaration by the police that the building was safe, entry and occupation into the Bursa Malaysia building had normalised.
Normal operations resumed with the pre-opening at 2pm followed by trading for the afternoon session that started at 2.30pm.
“There was no interruption to trading,” it said, adding that updates on the status of its operations were also made available on Bursa Malaysia’s website at http://www.bursamalaysia.com/corporate
The exchange had earlier said its building management received a bomb threat at 12.01 pm today.
As a precaution, all tenants and staff were evacuated, authorities were notified and respective business continuity plans, activated.
Earlier, Dang Wangi District Police Chief Zainol Samah said the threat was made by an unidentified caller to the security department of Bursa Malaysia, saying “after Friday prayers, there will be an explosion in Bursa Malaysia and the Hindu temple.”
An officer in the security department then lodged a police report, prompting the police to mobilise a K9 unit and bomb disposal squad to the scene. However, no bomb was found.
Police are now tracing the call.
