In a statement issued today, UM hoped the explanation would put to rest the confusion amongst the public after the matter of Azizan’s alleged doctorate from UM surfaced on social media.
Azizan is well-known as a motivational speaker and is also the founder of Richworks Group of Companies.
Checks on Richworks’ website found that under Azizan’s biodata page, he is described as the holder of a “Ph.D (Hon) Entrepreneurship (UM)” in the heading.
However, in his biography itself, it says that he has a diploma in investment analysis from Universiti Institut Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 1996, and later obtained an MBA and a PhD (Management) from “a local university in 2009”.
On his official Twitter page, Azizan describes himself as an entrepreneur, a marketing strategist, author, trainer, coach and television celebrity.
He is known for his motivational courses which relate to starting up businesses which several local celebrities have also attended.
Among his talks are the “Millionaire Marketing Mastery”, which charges RM2,997 for a three-day session.
His other talks are called “Intensif Magnet Kekayaan dan Kejayaan” and “Master Your Business”, among others.
Azizan has also appeared on TV al-Hijrah.
Following the statement issued by UM, social media is abuzz with the news, with some sharing the statement on Azizan’s official Facebook page.
He is also trending on Twitter, with some slamming him for lying about his degree and others defending him.
Azizan has yet to respond to the matter.
