An officer with the Bukit Aman Special Task Force on Organised Crime (Stafoc), ASP Abdul Hanis Hairul Abdul Halim, 33, said S Ravi Chandaran, 45, also threw away a grinder and items belonging to Morais such as a watch, a wallet and a ring into a river in Kuala Selangor.
“On Sept 18 last year, I questioned Ravi Chandaran (seventh accused) in the operations room at Kuala Selangor police station.
“Ravi Chandaran revealed a Proton Perdana was used to carry the body of Morais.
“He (accused) said: ‘Sir, there is a Proton Perdana which I used to transfer Morais’ body on that day (Sept 16), a silver-green Perdana with registration number WHS 9771.”
He said this during examination -in-chief by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Izzat Fauzan in hearing of the case which entered its 23rd day today.
The police officer, who is the 32nd witness, said Ravi Chandaran also informed him that the car was kept at his house in Taman Desa Aman, Bedong, Sungai Petani, Kedah.
Abdul Hanis Hairul said that on Sept 21 2015, he and three policemen — Sergeant Major Manaf, Sergeant Hisham and Corporal Fauzi — then went to Bedong to take the car which was parked in a fenced-up area of an unoccupied house.
He said the car was then taken to the Sentul police headquarters near here.
He also told the court that Ravi Chandaran informed the police that he had thrown a grinder, as well as items belonging to Kevin in a river at Km 46, Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan, Kuala Selangor, during questioning at the Kuala Muda police headquarters in Kedah on Sept 15, 2015.
When questioned further on the grinder, Abdul Hanis Hairul said Ravi Chandaran told him that it was used to erase the chassis and engine numbers of the car belonging to Kevin Morais, before the vehicle was set on fire.
On the items belonging to Morais that were disposed of in the river, he said they were not found.
Six men – G Gunasekaran, 48, R Dinishwaran, 24, A K Thinesh Kumar, 23, M Vishwanath, 26, S Nimalan, 23, and Ravi Chandaran — pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering Kevin Morais between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015 between Jalan Dutamas Raya here and No 1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.
Col Dr R Kunaseegaran, 53, who is the first accused, had pleaded not guilty to a charge of conspiring with the six men to murder Morais at the same place, date and time.
The trial before Judge Azman Abdullah continues tomorrow.
