Lim said Ali’s arrest should be imminent since police were swift to act against Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi over the latter’s “adios” tweet, bidding farewell to former PAS spiritual leader Haron Din.
“If Jeff Ooi can be arrested, why was Ali Tinju, who had threatened someone’s life, not arrested?” Lim told a press conference in Komtar today.
Ali had recently issued a threat against Chin, asking her to “watch her back”, and that she “may no longer walk the earth”.
Following the police announcement that he would be probed for criminal intimidation, Ali made a U-turn, claiming that he had been misquoted by FMT, which had published his initial remarks.
This prompted FMT to publish an audio clip and a transcript of its reporter’s interview with Ali yesterday.
Lim today also urged Khalid to display his powers by arresting “others who had disturbed the peace”, such as controversial academic Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad.
Tee, Lim pointed out, had claimed that many Chinese athletes who had participated in the Olympics were in individual sport events as “that’s where the money is”, while Nawawi courted controversy after equating Malaysian Official 1″(MO1) to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“I hope they (Tee and Nawawi) are not above the law and they, too, will be caught.
“I hope the IGP can show that police are not playing double standards by only arresting certain individuals,” Lim said.
