“His alleged threats and thuggish behaviour cannot be allowed to intimidate others when they are publicly made,” added the MP.
“This is utter disregard for the rule of law.”
Due to the gravity of the allegations against Ali Tinju, he called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to publicly disclose if investigations reveal any offences committed by the former soldier.
“And if so, whether he will be charged accordingly.”
Ramkarpal was commenting on IGP Khalid Abu Bakar confirming investigations against Ali Tinju for alleged threats.
“Ali Tinju claims to have been interrogated by the police for three hours,” he noted.
The claim by Ali Tinju that he was misquoted by the media over the alleged verbal assault against Bersih 2.0 Chairman Maria Chin Abdullah has been disputed by FMT.
The news portal published an article titled, “Ali Tinju not misquoted, here’s the recording” today with a copy of the voice recording, stressed Ramkarpal.
“The reporter also sets out in verbatim the alleged conversation between the journalist and Ali Tinju.”
The comments attributed to Ali Tinju are serious and cannot be taken lightly, he warned.
He pointed out certain excerpts from the conversation, as reported in the article, which seemed to endanger the life of Maria Chin:
“Journalist: Maria Chin cakap kalau Tuan buat exercise pinggang dia akan sediakan air untuk Tuan. Boleh saya dapatkan comment?
Ali Tinju: Dia kena ingat, saya takut dia nanti tidak akan berjalan di atas bumi. Ini kata-kata bekas tentera. Jangan cabar kami nanti kami akan buatkan kaki dia ke atas, kepala ke bawah jalan.
Journalist: Maknanya macam angkat mayat?
Ali Tinju: Itu you saksikan akan terjadi dalam masa terdekat.”
Ali Tinju claims he was misquoted, lamented the MP.
“His version and that of FMT cannot be reconciled.”
One must strike out the other, he pointed out.
