Nazri was commenting on a recent viral video in which former DAP member Hew Kuan Yau, commonly known as “Superman”, had made this claim.
In the video, Hew had coined the phrase “qi ma sa ji”, which he explained meant “to ride a horse to kill a chicken”, with “ma” referring to Mahathir and “ji” referring to Najib.
Nazri, who is an Umno Supreme Council member, told FMT there was no need for “Superman to tell us” that Lim was using Mahathir, as it was obvious.
He said when Mahathir was prime minister, Lim could not see eye to eye with the statesman.
Now, he said, they were both so friendly and, in fact, both Lim and Mahathir were using each other.
“I don’t know who is the horse and who is the chicken.
“Probably both are chickens waiting for me to slaughter them,” quipped the Tourism and Culture Minister.
Another Umno Supreme Council member, Annuar Musa also said Hew’s “revelation” was not surprising.
“It’s about the struggle for power. Everyone wants to defeat Najib.”
He said the DAP would grab the slightest opportunity to improve its chance of defeating the Najib-led Barisan Nasional, including forming an alliance with anyone working against Najib.
“The Opposition just wants to defeat the BN, so for them, there is no need to have shared values and beliefs,” he said, adding that pacts between parties with no shared values would not last.
He said the DAP in the past did not believe in Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership, but, today, could accept him as the Opposition leader.
“In the past, the DAP could not accept PAS’ struggles but (later) could accept them as an ally.”
For the BN he said, the component parties had the same shared beliefs, values and goals, and worked towards those goals for the sake of the country.
Yesterday, it was reported that in a brief video clip, firebrand Hew had claimed Lim was thinking of various ways to change the fate of the country, which he said was becoming a “bankrupt police state”.
This, he said, included using Mahathir.
