KUALA LUMPUR:
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd is required to submit a full report to the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) by Sept 21, following its service disruption at LRT Kelana Jaya line yesterday.

In a statement, SPAD said the operator also needed to propose measures to improve service delivery and response time.

“SPAD continues to monitor LRT service issues and is very concerned about the service disruption along the LRT Kelana Jaya line.

“We understand that many commuters had a frustrating experience due to discomfort and delays in reaching their destination,” it said in the statement.

The commission said it would ensure that Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd undertook an audit and investigation to identify the root cause and submit mitigation measures to avoid recurrences in the future.

Yesterday morning, thousands of commuters were held up at several stations due to glitches in the signalling and communication system which delayed RapidKL LRT trains between the Ampang Park and Dang Wangi stations.

Train service resumed to normal for both north-bound and south-bound stations at 1.15pm yesterday.
