Fathin Nur Athirah Sabarudin, 21, and her husband, Muhammad Hafiz Osmera, 21, were jointly charged with murdering Nadzirah Nur Safiah Sabarudin at No 5, Lot 1560, Jalan Tenggiri, Kampung Baru Tebing Tembah, Paka, near here between July 30 and Aug 29 this year.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which was read together with Section 34 of same code.

However, no pleas were recorded.

Magistrate Hazwanie Husain Bustari fixed Oct 9 for mention.

Muhammad Hafiz and Fathin Nur Athirah were represented by lawyer Hafizul Faris Che Razlan while deputy public prosecutor Mona Shazwani Kamarul Zaman appeared for the prosecution.

Nadzirah died on Aug 29, several hours after her sister Fathin Nur Athirah took her to the Paka Health Clinic at 3.45 pm.

The medical officer at the clinic noticed old and fresh wounds all over the toddler’s body, including on her face, head and legs, and immediately lodged a police report.
