Zahid denies rumours of suffering heart attack, stroke

PETALING JAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reassured the people that he is hale and hearty, and did not suffer a heart attack or stroke as was rumoured earlier.

In an article in The Star, Zahid said he was merely showing signs of fatigue as the strain of having to officiate so many Umno divisional meetings last week had affected him.

“I forgive those who spread the rumours. I am still healthy, only tired and have a hoarse voice after officiating eight division meetings this week.”

He also clarified that while he did consult with his doctor, it was not for reasons of a heart attack.

“I had to see the doctor for a check-up, not for a heart attack according to the rumours. And there were rumours that many people prayed for me to “padam” (die),” he said when opening the Subang Umno division meeting in Sungai Buloh yesterday.

During yesterday’s event, Zahid also kept his speech short so as not to worsen his current fragile state, the English daily quoted Bernama as having reported.
