Sackings if government companies don’t do well

Second Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani says the managements must ensure profits and job opportunities, support national development and be catalysts of the economy.

Bosses of government-linked companies (GLCs) have been warned of sackings if their companies do not perform well.

Second Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani said the management of GLCs or companies controlled by Minister of Finance Incorporated must ensure profits and job opportunities.

He said the ministry constantly monitors the performance of these companies.

“We ensure that all the management of government companies do their work. If it seems that any of them are not achieving the desired results, the government will not renew their contracts,” he was quoted as saying.

“If they fail to carry out their duties well, we will not renew their contracts,”  he said according to Berita Harian.

He said government companies must support Malaysia’s development and be catalysts for the economy.
