The remand order was issued by Magistrates Court assistant registrar Muna Maria Azmi.
Keat Seong, who is Sungai Pinang assemblywoman Lim Siew Khim’s father, surrendered himself to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here yesterday.
He was questioned for about five hours and led out with handcuffs. About 10 MACC officers then brought him to two apartments, where they seized various documents.
Penang MACC chief Abd Aziz Aban, however, remained tight lipped over the investigation, saying that updates on the investigation will be released “in due course”.
Keat Seong was alleged to have collected fees for those who wanted to cut queues and ensure they got state affordable housing units.
It was learnt that he charged a fee of RM260 per application and other miscellaneous fees.
On Sunday, a Facebook site called Penang Kini leaked a video purporting to show Keat Seong, a middleman and aggrieved customers complaining after promises of acquiring homes were not met.
The middleman, acting as a peacemaker, is seen in the video saying that Keat Seong would return the monies collected from them in instalments.
Siew Khim, in an immediate response, told the media that she was not involved and was not aware of her father’s deeds.
Meanwhile, Penang Housing committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo had also said there was no way any housing applicants could pay their way to get affordable homes.
