PETALING JAYA:
A woman involved in a cooking gas tank explosion at her home near Klang died in hospital yesterday eight days after the incident.

Tan Bee Bee, 48, died at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.

Her husband, Ee Kok Meng, 50, also injured in the explosion, is recovering at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Ee’s younger brother, Kok Keong, 41, told Star Online his brother’s condition had been improving.

‘‘He was initially diagnosed as having 20% burns. However, it became 55% after several days.

‘‘He will be undergoing several surgeries later and I pray for the best for him.’’

He said his brother’s children, two sons aged 11 and 14, and the eldest daughter aged 17, were now the family’s major concern.

‘‘It will be a long road to recovery for my brother and he would not be able to return to work anytime soon. His children’s education and cost of living will be an issue.’’

The daughter, Hui Xin, will be sitting for her SPM examination in November.

She said she had initially planned to help her parents out at their yong tau foo and chee cheong fun stall in Klang Utama after finishing her exam.

The news report said a leak caused the cooking gas tank to explode in the kitchen of their double-storey terrace home in Taman Saga, Meru, near here, at 6.35am on Sunday, Aug 21.

The explosion damaged the roof and walls of the house.
