KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public have been advised to be alert of kidnappers using a white van following the attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl in Kampung Datuk Keramat here on Tuesday.

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the kidnapping attempt was done by four men, two of whom were wearing women’s clothes, travelling in a white-coloured van.

“The victim is a student of Sekolah Rendah Agama Al Akram, Kampung Datuk Keramat, who was walking to school when the attempted kidnapping took place,” he told Bernama.

He said in the incident at 1.50pm, two men in women’s clothes approached the girl and suddenly tried to pull her into the awaiting van.

“One of the suspects pointed a knife at the girl, but she fought back, kicking and punching their faces, causing them to get back into the van and speed off,” he said.

Mohamad Roy Suhaimi said the girl then ran into the school compound and recounted the incident to a teacher, who lodged the police report.

He said they were unable to get the plate number of the van as there was no closed-circuit television camera at the scene.

Mohamad Roy Suhaimi also said the teacher also lodged another report claiming that another kidnapping attempt involving a student of the school had also taken place on Aug 5.

“The attempt involved two men on a motorcycle who tried to abduct one of two sisters, aged seven and 10, who were walking to school about 1.50pm.

“The pillion rider grabbed the younger girl by the hand, but she fought back and screamed, causing him to let go and leave the scene,” he said, adding that no arrests had been made in the two cases so far, but police had indeed increased patrols in the area.
