The Higher Education Ministry, in a statement today, said existing security screening procedures at tertiary institutions (IPT) had been tightened as part of these early prevention measures.
“The ministry will also give full cooperation to the Royal Malaysian Police to take action against its staff or university students involved in Daesh militant group activities, if necessary.
“The ministry is also working closely with the authorities, including the police and other law enforcement agencies, to ensure the wellbeing and safety of students, as well as to ensure a conducive learning environment at all IPT in the country,” the statement said.
It said a briefing session and explanation on Daesh militant group activities had also been included in all programmes involving IPT students.
