
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Ashraf Wajdi Dusuki said the review should start from schools, pondok schools and up to institutions of higher learning.
“We have to explain the real meaning of ‘jihad’ to members of society and not according to the definition of terrorist groups.
“Those who do not understand Islamic principles will misuse the word ‘jihad’ to commit extreme acts that are detrimental to society, the nation and religion,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Earlier, he opened the Anti-Extremism Via Wasatiyah Seminar organised by Kolej Universiti Insaniah, University of Malaya and World Association For Al-Azhar Graduates Malaysia.
