
Johor Police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said after making the payment, the 48-year-old logistics businessman received several items, including a number of keris and spears, allegedly obtained from the otherworld that could verify that he was a descendent of the Melaka Sultan.
With the items in his possession, the man also planned to hold an event here soon to commemorate the death of the last Sultan of Melaka, Wan Ahmad Najmuddin told Bernama when contacted here today.
He said the businessman’s plan, however, was not approved by his relatives who lodged a police report over the matter on Aug 3.
Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said, acting on the report, police raided a house in Taman Pelangi Indah here yesterday and arrested both the businessman and the ‘ustaz.’
During the raid, he said police also seized 30 keris, 16 ceremonial costumes, 12 spears, swords and machetes and four other instruments allegedly part of the royal paraphernalia of the Melaka Sultanate.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, with whipping and a fine, upon conviction.
