KUALA LUMPUR:
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s former press secretary Abd Halim Ab Majid, 61, died of a brain haemorrhage at the Kajang Hospital, at 7.05pm today.

Abd Halim was Zahid’s press secretary when the latter was Defence Minister.

Abdul Halim’s eldest son, Muhammad Ikram, 32, said his father had been in a coma at the hospital since last Tuesday.

“He came to the hospital regularly for his dialysis treatments before falling into a coma on Tuesday,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Muhammad Ikram said his father’s remains would be brought home to Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2 tonight and laid to rest at the nearby Muslim cemetery before Friday prayers tomorrow.

Abd Halim is survived by his wife Normah Ab Talib, 60, and their three children.

Abd Halim was once the producer of TV3’s “Sekapur Sirih” and worked as a Berita Harian reporter in the 1970s.
