Perlis Menteri Besar Azlan Man however said that since Malaysia was a democracy, there would be no restrictions on any group who wished to form a new political party in the country.
“But the action will affect unity among the people,” he told reporters after a Perlis state legislative assembly sitting here today when commenting on Muhyiddin’s announcement today that an application to register a new political party would be submitted to the Registrar of Societies soon.
However Azlan also said the formation of the new party would not affect Umno which would continue to champion the well-being of the people despite the various challenges it faced.
“I am confident that the people will not be fooled again and that the loyalty of Umno members is unshakable.
“Umno’s struggle is very clear and on the right track. The formation of a new party does not mean anything for Umno even though it’s (a new party) and members may consist of former Umno Supreme Council members,” he said.
