Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said Khairul Azwan could be summoned at any time to assist in the investigation pertaining to his report.
“We’ll call him up at any time,” he told Bernama through the WhatsApp application here today.
Yesterday, Khairul Azwan lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here.
He alleged that former Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail and outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Abu Kassim Mohamed were believed to be involved in the conspiracy.
Abdul Gani, in commenting on the report yesterday, had said that the allegation that he was involved in such a conspiracy was just a ruse by certain parties to seek publicity.
Abu Kassim, who attended a talk show programme at the Malaysian Institute Of Integrity here today, declined to meet the media.
He was seen leaving the programme around 10.30am, an hour and a half, after the programme, which was also attended by former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, began.
Meanwhile, in Johor Bahru, the state Umno Youth urged the authorities to immediately investigate the allegation made by Khairul.
“We believe Khairul has strong reasons for lodging the police report.
“As such, we urge the authorities to investigate it immediately to find the truth,” said Johor Umno Youth Head Hahasrin Hashim in a statement.
