Kuala Langat Police Chief Supt Zailan Tasir said in the 9.30am incident, the three victims, aged between 51 and 58, had just sent off another friend with an undisclosed amount of money at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia 2) in Sepang.
“After sending off a friend at klia 2 with their company’s money, they headed to Kuala Lumpur, passing through the KLIA toll plaza before entering the Elite highway.
“As they arrived at the Putrajaya exit, the victims’ vehicle was stopped by four men on two Yamaha 125Z motorcycles, a white Toyota Camry and a grey (Proton) Wira Aeroback.”
He said the Proton Wira Aeroback was reportedly parked by the roadside and there were two men standing next to the car, along with cones erected nearby to indicate the car had “broken down”.
He said the Proton Wira Aeroback was parked in that manner to block the vehicle in which the victims were in before the Toyota Camry, driven by a suspect, overtook from behind.
“The victims saw a masked man alight from the Toyota Camry and shoot at them.
“The two motorcycles also came near to the victims’ vehicle on both sides and the men fired shots.”
However, Zailan said the Toyota Fortuner driver reversed the vehicle a little and drove off onto the highway to escape the robbers.
All the victims did not sustain any injuries as the vehicle they were in was bullet-proof, he said.
“Investigations revealed that the suspects were unknown to the victims. Police are now closing in on all the suspects,” he said.
