English language courses for Malacca state officers

Chief Minister Idris Haron says the intensive learning programme, scheduled to begin at the end of the year, will be offered for Malacca government officers in Grade 41 and above.

MALACCA: Several public institutions of higher learning have come forward to offer intensive programmes to enhance the mastering of the English language among Malacca civil servants.

Chief Minister Idris Haron said the intensive learning programme, scheduled to begin at the end of the year, was offered for Malacca government officers in Grade 41 and above.

He said the programme was offered by, among others, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Universiti Teknologi Mara and Universiti Malaya.

The state government secretariat is looking into this and holding discussions to get our officers to be fluent in English, he told reporters here today.

He was met after launching the UPSR English Intervention Programme jointly organised by Melaka Foundation, Utem and the State Education Department .
