KUALA LIPIS: An armed robbery attempt by a man armed with a toy gun at a goldsmith shop in Bandar Lama Lipis was foiled by the police yesterday evening.
The district’s acting police chief DSP Ab Rashid Mat Daud said a police team rushed to the scene at 5pm upon receiving a tip-off.
“The man, aged 22, was detained the moment he parked his car in front of the shop and tried to escape,” he told a press conference here.
He said police found a gun, which is believed to be a toy, hidden in the suspect’s bag, together with a wig.
The police also seized three pawn tickets, a mobile phone, a necklace, two masks, a dark blue tape, a facial mask and a pair of rubber gloves from the suspect’s car.
