SEREMBAN:
The Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (RTD) is expected to charge 57 road users at the Seremban Magistrate’s Court next month for using the emergency lane on the highways during its Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2016.

State Road Transport Department Chief (Enforcement) Rosilan Md Sari said the offenders were issued summonses on the spot at the time of the offence.

Another 47 offenders would be called for an interview session.

“These offenders were traced by the RTD personnel who had disguised themselves and taken photographs when the offence was committed,” he told reporters at the state RTD Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, here, today.

Rosilan said 60 members of the public had also reported such offences.

“We will filter all these reports. Information submitted must come complete with pictures, location and time.

“If the information is not complete, their reports will be rejected.”

He said other than cars, small lorries and buses had also abused the use of the emergency lane.

Rosilan said the state RTD had also issued 122 summonses for various offences to 34 express bus drivers.

“Among the offences were smoking while driving, using mobile phones, driving on the right lane, dropping off passengers at prohibited locations, not keeping tabs of the log book and driving without a second driver,” he said.

He added that the summonses were issued by 14 RTD personnel who were disguised as passengers on board 43 express buses.
