PETALING JAYA: The police have denied issuing a “shoot-to-kill” order on 179 people,The Star Online reported today.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh was quoted saying this in a statement last night, in response to a voice recording being circulated on WhatsApp, calling for gang members to assemble outside Bukit Aman on July 15 to “protest” the purported order.

The recording had claimed that the shooting orders were a ploy to reduce the Indian population.

Amar said the accusation “has no merit, is seditious, and can lead to friction between races.”

He added that efforts are underway to trace the mastermind behind the recording.
