Hotel worker fined, jailed for flashing

S Reevandran pleads guilty to showing his private parts to a 22- year-old college student at a condominium in Setapak.

KUALA LUMPUR: A hotel worker was sentenced to a day in jail by the magistrate’s court here today for stripping and flashing his private parts at a female college student last week.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid also ordered S Reevandran, 24, to pay a fine of RM3,000, in default a month’s jail, after he man pleaded guilty to the charge.

Reevandran was charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code for showing gestures intended to outrage the modesty of the 22-year-old college student.

The offence was committed in front of a lift of a condominium in Setapak here between 1pm and 1.30pm on June 6.

The charge carries imprisonment of up to five years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.

In mitigation, Reevandran, represented by lawyer Ahmad Redza Mohd Noh, said he regretted his action.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurelynna Hanim Abd Halim.
