KUALA LUMPUR:
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will review the quality of Malaysian flags flown around the federal capital after the flag hoisted at Dataran Merdeka was left torn and tattered following strong winds and heavy rains.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz said the move was necessary to ensure that the Malaysian flags, the nation’s symbol were not easily torn and more durable than the existing ones.

He said the tattered Jalur Gemilang at Dataran Merdeka was lowered last Friday and would be replaced with a new flag tomorrow.

“Malaysian flags flown around the capital are being replaced every three months,” he told Bernama today.

Mhd Amin was commenting on a photograph of the tattered Malaysian flag at Dataran Merdeka spread through social media recently.

He said the flag was in tatters due to strong winds and heavy rains that occurred last Wednesday and Thursday.
