Three days ago, at a press conference, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that the hand grenade attack at the Movida club in Puchong last month was the Islamic State’s first ever successful attack on Malaysian soil.
The June 28 attack, which injured eight patrons, took place in the early hours of the morning, when customers were watching the live screening of the European Championship football tournament.
Islamic State had claimed responsibility soon afterwards, claiming it was aimed at venues that promote “vice activities” during Ramadan.
The IGP announced during the same press conference, that police have since arrested two men in Port Klang believed to have thrown the grenade and are looking for another two, believed to be linked to the incident.
