22-year-old Adam Roslan’s disappearance is a mystery considering he called home to inform his mother that he was safe after the attack, said the New Straits Times in a report today.
Adam called his mother Mahiran Mohd Noor, some two hours after three men fired shots and blew themselves up at the airport, killing at least 41 people, and injuring scores of others.
“My son was travelling home from Moscow, where he is a student at the Moscow Aviation Institute. He was in transit at Ataturk Airport,” the English daily quoted her as saying.
Adam was with his friend Muhammad Amirul Amber Aznan, before he walked off to withdraw some cash from an automated teller machine. He only had his wallet with him at the time.
The daily also spoke to Amirul, who said he was sitting at the airport’s international departure area when he heard gunshots from the level above, followed by an explosion. He also saw people screaming and getting down on the floor, to dodge bullets “which were flying in all directions.”
Malaysian ambassador to Turkey Amran Muhammad Zin said they were working with Turkish authorities to locate Adam.
Militant group Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
