JEMPOL:
An allocation of RM300 million has been set aside to solve the problems plaguing existing telecommunication towers nationwide which have yet to have connectivity. Such towers are also referred to as “naked towers.”

Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said the allocation was approved by Prime Minister Najib Razak and efforts to solve the problems were ongoing.

“I understand the problems faced by the public in regards to the towers without connectivity.

“I have taken the matter to the attention of the prime minister and he has agreed to solve the problems by providing an allocation of RM300 million.”

He said this to reporters after the launch and presentation of Ramadan donations to 1,282 recipients, including asnaf and orphans, at Tunku Mukriz Mosque in Bandar Seri Jempol here today.

The minister said the “naked tower” issues in Sarawak, however, had been fully resolved.

In his speech earlier, Salleh also announced the approval for four villages in Jempol to be turned into a 1Malaysia Wireless Village.
