“I asked him to repent or be honest and courageous enough to state specifically whether I am ‘kafir harbi’ (warring infidel) who should be killed or slain.”
The state mufti’s incendiary and seditious “kafir harbi” statement was the most serious and dangerous attack on the Federal Constitution and nation-building process, added Lim who is also Gelang Patah MP. “The Cabinet must address this issue on Wednesday or all the Ministers, including the new ones, would have abdicated their national duties and responsibilities.”
The DAP veteran was commenting on Abdul Rahman insisting on Monday that he would neither retract his statement nor apologise to DAP over his earlier remarks labeling it as ‘kafir harbi’.
Given the mufti’s stand on the “kafir harbi” issue, Lim wants to know who was more dangerous and subversive to the nation-building process in Malaysia.
He referred to ISIS member Mohd Rafi Udin, from Negri Sembilan, warning that there would be “no peace” for police personnel in the Bukit Aman headquarters. He noted that Mohd Rafi urged IS supporters in Malaysia to employ whatever means necessary to kill non-believers. “Kill them wherever you meet them…if you have a car, hit them…Use your weapon and knives to stab them in the chest, Lim quoted Mohd Rafi as saying.
Meanwhile, pointed out Lim, a state mufti is spouting a “kafir harbi” edict, implying that DAP and non-Muslims can be killed regardless of the Rule of Law.
The DAP veteran went on to argue that the mufti poses a greater threat to the integrity and success of the nation-building process. “In the case of IS, there’s a Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division.”
The responsibility of the Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division, he noted, was to be vigilant and be prepared for IS threats. “However, Malaysia seems to be completely defenceless against IS-minded religious officials preaching doctrines no different from the terrorist group.”
